Detroit Architects: Rogers & Bonnah

Detroit Architects: Rogers & Bonnah

1 min read

Rogers & Bonnah was the 20th-century architectural practice of James S. Rogers and Harrie W. Bonnah.

One of Detroit’s most respected design firms during the city’s economic boom and subsequent residential expansion, Rogers & Bonnah constructed homes in upscale neighborhoods, such as the Indian Village Historic District – a community with a reputation for elegance, peaceful energy, and sophisticated curbside appeal.

Here, their contributions include: the William E. Moss House located at 1481 Seminole, and the William A. C. Miller House located at 1720 Iroquois, two expertly crafted residences that perfectly showcase the firm’s mastery of rich architectural detailing, intricate revival styles, and their ability to construct homes that both impressed and endured.

They are living proof that Detroit was not just shaped by renowned architects, but by a wide network of highly skilled designers whose collective talent produced some of the city’s finest historic districts.
