About Grandmont
Detroit’s Grandmont neighborhood is often called “The Home of Good Neighbors” for a reason. The closely knit revitalizing area is home to an active community association, annual events and restored historic houses. The small community occupies less than 3 square miles in northwest Detroit, just 12 miles from downtown. Established in 1923, the neighborhood began the Grandmont Rosedale Community Garden in 2009, and the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation has been rehabilitating vacant apartment buildings to create affordable housing in the area. The Grandmont Community Association helps preserve and beautify the neighborhood’s historic homes and publishes The Grandmonitor, a monthly newsletter where residents can find all the local news and community events. “Grandmont is centrally located, but the charm here is in the details of the homes. There are all types of properties with unique features you can’t find nowadays. The architecture is very special. There are colonials and Cape Cods, and the houses are on the larger side, with 1,500 to 3,000 square feet
