Detroit’s Grandmont neighborhood is often called “The Home of Good Neighbors” for a reason. The closely knit revitalizing area is home to an active community association, annual events and restored historic houses. The small community occupies less than 3 square miles in northwest Detroit, just 12 miles from downtown. Established in 1923, the neighborhood began the Grandmont Rosedale Community Garden in 2009, and the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation has been rehabilitating vacant apartment buildings to create affordable housing in the area.
