About Berg-Lahser
Berg-Lahser is a small Detroit neighborhood without much excitement, but residents say it’s a good place for families. “It’s quiet, peaceful,” says Pamela Samuel, a 35-year resident of Berg-Lahser, former president of the Berg-Lahser Community Association and licensed Realtor with Prime Financial Plus Realty. “And I just printed 1,400 newsletters for the community association. That’s how engaged the community is.” While the neighborhood is light on bars and significant events, it has some great amenities for families looking to live in Detroit without being in the thick of city action. The low-slung rooflines of ranch-style homes are widespread throughout Berg-Lahser, but the neighborhood also holds bungalow and Colonial-style homes. Though these homes might need some repairs, the neighborhood faces fewer challenges than other areas of Detroit. To help maintain neighborhood homes, the Berg-Lahser Community Association keeps residents informed of programs like federal loans for disaster relief, which help homeowners and renters rebuild after being impacted by natural disasters.
