About Joy Community
The Joy Community is filled with single-family homes, places of worship and a large park, all 13 miles away from Downtown Detroit. “The area is very neighborly. The people all know each other,” says Marliesha Darnell, a Realtor with eXp Realty who works in the area. “Everyone is tight-knit in the neighborhood, and they’re all very nice.” Residents can visit popular food chains like Captain Jay’s Fish & Chicken along Greenfield Rd. Parents might take their kids to Edison Detroit Public Library for storytime or to run around Stoepel Park Number 2. Local non-profits continue to support Joy Community residents with events like the Sowing Seeds Growing Future farmers market and clothing swap. Residents return home from work or school and relax in their brick bungalow homes. Some feature front bay windows, but almost all have limited yard space, uncovered parking and concrete steps leading up to the front door. Darnell says affordability is one of the reasons homebuyers choose Joy Community. “You can get a good house for $100,000. So it’s affordable, and it’s in a nice area of Detroit
