Verify the organizer, venue, and current status
Use the City of Detroit event calendar for current municipal listings and the official organizer or venue page for the complete event terms. Match the event name, date, address, start and end time, organizer, and destination before purchasing or traveling. A repost, screenshot, cached search result, or old annual listing can be incomplete.
Check postponement, cancellation, admission, capacity, age, bag, reentry, photography, accessibility, and refund rules. For a free event, confirm whether registration is still required. Rebuild Detroit does not operate events, sell tickets, reserve admission, control refunds, or guarantee that a listed activity will occur.

Plan the full trip and return
Review transit routes, service alerts, road conditions, parking instructions, rideshare areas, and the return trip. Large events can change traffic control, street access, and transit service. Allow time for security or check-in and avoid relying on the last scheduled departure without confirming live operator information.
Confirm whether parking is public, private, prepaid, permit-only, event-controlled, or subject to posted restrictions. Use official transportation and venue sources rather than a third-party map alone. Keep tickets and parking confirmation in an account you control and do not buy from an unverified message or impersonated profile.

Check accessibility, family, and weather needs
Contact the venue about entrances, seating, restrooms, mobility devices, interpreters, sensory accommodations, service animals, and drop-off areas. An event may use temporary layouts that differ from ordinary venue operations. Ask early enough for any advance request and confirm the response close to the event date.
Outdoor events require a weather and safety plan. Check the organizer's delay or cancellation channel and current public alerts. Families should confirm age suitability, supervision, food, water, medication, quiet space, and reunification plans. Rebuild Detroit does not provide medical, child-care, security, or emergency services.

For event producers, start with permits
Public-space, park, food, structures, amplified sound, alcohol, street, vendor, or large-gathering activity can require permits or coordinated review. Detroit Parks and Recreation and other city departments publish current application paths. Identify the site owner and responsible agencies before advertising a date as confirmed.
An event page should not imply that a listing is a permit, city approval, sponsorship, or insurance review. Organizers remain responsible for approvals, vendors, accessibility, safety, privacy, ticketing, refunds, and public claims. Rebuild Detroit can list or link approved information but does not make an event lawful or operational.
