Career and Training Funding
Funding is not one pool and it is rarely automatic. Employer training awards, workforce assistance, state scholarships, school aid, grants, work-study, and loans have different applicants, eligible costs, approvals, and obligations. Confirm the current program before enrolling, training, hiring, or spending.

Identify who applies and what the program funds
Some programs are designed for an employer, while others are for a student, worker, school, sponsor, or local workforce participant. Determine who submits the application and who receives payment. A worker's interest in training does not establish employer eligibility, and an eligible school does not guarantee aid for every student.
Request a current list of eligible costs and exclusions. Tuition, wages, books, tools, testing, licensing, transportation, child care, and supportive services may be treated differently. Ask whether approval must occur before enrollment, purchase, hiring, or training begins, and keep the written decision.

Use official employer training channels
Michigan's Going PRO Talent Fund supports qualifying employer training through the Michigan Works system and requires a demonstrated talent need leading to a transferable, industry-recognized skill or credential. Current cycles, guides, contacts, eligibility, and application steps belong on the official program page.
An employer should contact the responsible Michigan Works business-services team early enough to understand fact finding, provider selection, approvals, records, and reporting. Rebuild Detroit does not determine an award or provide permission to incur a cost. Do not advertise funding as secured until the program owner confirms it.

Compare student aid and scholarship obligations
Federal student aid can include grants, work-study, and loans, and a school's financial-aid offer is the source for the aid actually offered to a student. Compare aid separately from total cost and net price. Loans must be repaid under their terms; a headline amount does not show the full obligation.
Michigan Reconnect and other state or institutional programs have current eligibility, school, program, application, and continuing-participation rules. Use the live official page and the school financial-aid office. Do not rely on an older age rule, award amount, deadline, or media announcement.

Document the decision before committing
Create a written funding plan showing total expected cost, confirmed aid, pending aid, employer contribution, personal payment, loans, uncovered expenses, refund terms, and the consequence of withdrawal or noncompletion. Do not treat a submitted application or preliminary eligibility message as a final award or payment.
