Home to roughly 4,000 people, Denby is a small Detroit neighborhood that puts residents close to all the city’s action. “It’s minutes from downtown, which has a lot of local nightclubs,” says Kingsley Ifezue, licensed real estate broker and owner of iTech Realty. “A lot of good bars and good food.” As for the neighborhood itself, Ifezue says the resilience of Denby residents and the neighborhood’s older homes are some of the reasons people like the area. “There are a lot of nice, beautiful brick homes in Denby,” he says. “It’s a tough neighborhood, but it’s got a lot of tradition, a lot of creativity and history.” Home styles in Denby vary, but brick siding is common across many of the styles in the area. Ranch homes, Tudor-style and two-story Colonial homes line the streets of Denby, and the lots are narrow but well-maintained.
