Founded in 2015 by Alia Harvey-Quinn, Force Detroit works with the people closest to violence, including those who once carried guns or led crews, and trains them to save lives. It became a national example of ending violence from within, helped win public funding for Detroit CVI groups and built the city's first credible messenger fellowship. Harvey-Quinn stepped back from the executive role in late 2024; DuJuan Kennedy now leads the organization while she stays on as a strategist and mentor.
