Licensing and lead-safe rules in Michigan
Michigan dropped the state license for painting and decorating in 2018 (Public Act 527 of 2018), and painting stucco normally needs no permit. Stucco and siding repair is exterior cladding work; siding is a licensed maintenance and alteration contractor trade above a threshold set by state law, and larger repairs may need a building permit.
