The story
The Coronado Apartments heads Joy's work in Metro Detroit, a building in Detroit's Midtown, finished in 1894 and listed on the National Register in 1982.
A span of 11 years separates the Coronado Apartments (1894) from the Charlevoix Hotel (1905), the first and last of Joy's works here. In Detroit, Joy's work stands in Midtown.
The region has lost the Charlevoix Hotel, demolished in 2013 from Joy's record. The Coronado Apartments and The Alhambra Apartments still stand. The Coronado Apartments at 3751-3773 Second Ave is a good first stop for anyone tracing Joy's buildings.
