It is a raw March day in St. Clair County and you are looking at a tech whose numbers have been flat for months. Good worker, polite, never a complaint, and you honestly cannot say what happens once they walk through a homeowner's door.
A ride-along coach spends real days in the truck with them. The coach watches the whole call, from the driveway to the invoice, then debriefs in the truck between jobs while the moment is still fresh, one habit at a time.
The change shows up at the kitchen table first. The tech explains what they found in plain words, lays out options calmly and stops apologizing for prices, and homeowners decide with confidence because they finally understand.

What we report every month: Average ticket per tech, Options presented per call, Calls closed on the first visit, and Coaching plan progress.
A ride-along is a coach spending a real workday in the truck with a tech, watching calls from start to finish. The coach sees what a manager reviewing tickets never sees, like how the tech greets, explains and presents. Coaching happens right after each call while it is still fresh.
Classroom training is good for teaching a process to a whole crew at once. Ride-alongs are where habits actually change, because the coaching happens around a real home and a real homeowner. The best programs use the classroom to teach and the truck to make it stick.
Homeowners want choices explained simply, not a sales pitch. Coaches help techs show what they found, explain what happens if nothing is done and offer honest options at different levels. Done that way, homeowners feel respected and decide faster.
Cost follows how many techs we ride with, how many days per tech and how much follow-up coaching you want. Travel across St. Clair County is part of the planning. We agree on a fixed project or monthly fee after a short call.
Look for someone who has run calls and managed techs, not someone who has only taught classes. Ask how they behave in a homeowner's house, since the coach should never take over the call. Ask what you get in writing after each ride.
You know the business best, but the shop runs without you that day and feedback can feel personal.
Teaches the steps, but habits slip once the tech is back alone in the truck.
