The story

Harry C. Stevens was born in 1870. St. Rita Apartments heads Stevens' work in Metro Detroit, a building in Detroit's North End, finished in 1916 and listed on the National Register in 2017.

The record opens in 1905 with the E. S. Pickard House, during the boom years when the auto industry turned Detroit into one of the fastest growing cities in America, and closes in 1916 with St. Rita Apartments. Inside the city, Stevens' buildings stand in 3 neighborhoods, from Indian Village to Virginia Park. The region has lost the Broadway Market, demolished in 1967 from Stevens' record.

Today, 3 of Stevens' works still stand. To see Stevens' work in person, start with the E. S. Pickard House at 670 Virginia Park St.
