Standing

The story
In 1886, as Detroit's lumber, stove and shipbuilding money went into brick and stone, Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church Complex opened in Hubbard Richard.
It was built in the Classical Revival style, and it still reads that way from the sidewalk.
The National Register of Historic Places listed it in 1976.
Next time you are nearby, stop at Howard and Ste. Anne Sts and look up.
Basilica of Sainte Anne de Détroit (Sainte-Anne-de-Détroit) was founded July 26, 1701 by French colonists in New France, and is the second-oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in the United States.
