The story

The house at 1086 Burns St went up in 1913, during the boom years when the auto industry turned Detroit into one of the fastest growing cities in America.

It carries the name of Charles G. Lothrop.

Smith, Hinchman & Grylls designed it.

Today it sits inside Indian Village, one of the blocks Detroit has chosen to protect.

Most homes like it are lived in, so enjoy it from the sidewalk.
