Standing

We checked building permits, sales, listings and the city's blight and demolition files on October 25, 2026. Nothing new at this address in the last two years.

The story

The house at 451 W. Kirby went up in 1916, during the boom years when the auto industry turned Detroit into one of the fastest growing cities in America.

It carries the name of Max Jacob.

Maurice H. Finkel designed it in the French Villa style.

Today it sits inside Midtown homes, one of the blocks Detroit has chosen to protect.

On the city map it falls in Chadsey Condon.

Most homes like it are lived in, so enjoy it from the sidewalk.
