The story
In 1923, as the auto boom spread out from Detroit and the suburbs began to fill in, the Ford Motor Company Lamp Factory opened in Flat Rock.
Albert Kahn drew the plans.
Go see it. Photos never get the scale right.
The Ford Motor Co. Lamp Factory in Flat Rock, Michigan, was one of Henry Ford's village industries, which were small rural factories. It was the product of a unique collaboration between industrialist Ford and his lead designer, Albert Kahn.
