The Grand Trunk Western Railroad, Mount Clemens Station opened in 1859, when Michigan was still a young state of farms, mills and river landings.

It was built in the Italianate style, and it still reads that way from the sidewalk.

The National Register of Historic Places listed it in 1981.

Next time you are nearby, stop at 198 Grand Street and look up.

Mount Clemens station is a historic railroad depot located at 198 Grand Street in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Thomas Edison learned telegraphy at this station in his youth.
