The story

In 1941, as the region worked through hard times and then boomed after the war, the Mellus Newspapers Building went up in 1661 Fort St. 42°15′06″N 83°10′31″W / 42.251667°N 83.175278°W / 42.251667; -83.175278 (Mellus Newspapers Building).

It was built in the Moderne style, and it still reads that way from the sidewalk.

It joined the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

It is gone now, demolished in 2010, and the map pin below marks where it stood.

The Mellus Newspapers Building was a commercial building at 1661 Fort Street in Lincoln Park, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, and demolished in 2010. The building was removed from the National Register of Historic Places in 2024.
